I am a Lacemaker, Lace Teacher, Embroiderer and Textile Artist and I Hand Paint Lace Bobbins.
I was originally trained as a Graphic Designer and Finished Artist, but after having my 2 children back in 1989 and 1992 I had become “defunct” as Graphics was to be taken over by computers!
I started learning Bobbin Lace in October 1990 and joined the Australian Lace Guild straight away and have been a member ever since. I have been on the committee of the Western Australian Branch of the Guild several times over the years as a President, committee member and also recently Vice-President.
I started Teaching Lace in 2005 when I designed my own style of Needle Lace – “Cordonnicot Lace” – more can be read on the Tab “Cordonnicot Lace” on this blog site.
I started hand painting the lace bobbins and started selling them in February 1991. I went to my first Australian Lace Guild AGM week in September 1996 and had my first “Bobbin stall” … I have attended every year since! Sold many bobbins which now reside on lace pillows all over the world!
In July 1992 I joined the Wanneroo Lace Group here in Perth, which meets weekly on a Wednesday …. 21 years on and I still go most weeks. In 1995 a new Group was started called “Lacecargot”… we meet fortnightly on Saturday afternoons …. In 2003 I started an embroidery group “Stitchety Grubs” and we meet fortnightly on a Friday morning (alternate to the Lacecargot as 3 of us are in both groups :D)
Also in 2003 I began making Wire bobbin lace and have taught it since 2007.
Lots of things I have made and done can be seen on my original blog at:
